Flinders Ranges and the Hans Heysen Trail
The Flinders Ranges National Park in South Australia is a mosaic of steep sawtooth ridges, rocky gorges and broad undulating plains lying on the southern edge of the large deserts that cover most of Central Australia.
These arid ranges offer some of the finest walking country in Australia through ancient gorges and valleys, rugged ranges, ruins of early European settlement, Aboriginal rock art sites, meandering creeks lined with towering gums and wide valleys of native pines. Our tour explores some of the most spectacular sections of the Hans Heysen Trail named after artist Sir Hans Heysen, recognised for his watercolours of the Australian bush particularly in the Flinders Ranges. Walkers will experience a mix of challenging terrain and diverse scenery along with an abundance of wildlife. Red and Western Kangaroos, Euros and Yellow footed Rock Wallabies along with over 100 native bird species.
Our accommodation will be in the stunning new eco villas at Rawnsley Park Station for three nights, the recently refurbished Wilpena Pound Resort for one night and The Outback Prairie Hotel at Parachilna for two nights. These unique properties offer clients a wonderful contrast of outback accommodation in the Flinders Ranges.
