Kumaon Village Walk
Walk the beautiful foothills of the Kumaon Himalaya in Northern India and experience an untouched culture in this remote and unfrequented region. Enjoy the simple comforts of converted village houses and the understated luxury of 4 secluded cottages at Leti 360 perched on a plateau overlooking the Great Himalaya. We dine on traditional Kumaon cuisine and each day offers an intimate snapshot of day to day rural life in the Himalaya. The breathtaking beauty and serenity of this majestic landscape and the grace and warmth of the local people offers an experience that is enriching, inspiring and deeply rewarding. We spend three nights in Village houses and three nights at Leti 360.
In the countryside near the old hill station of Almora we follow the villagers’ own ancient footpaths meandering among forests and terraced fields of rice and wheat. The village women’s saris are a flash of vivid colour as they go about their daily tasks – just as they have done for centuries. The children stare, shy at first of the rare sight of strangers but quickly they run towards us with smiling faces and welcoming cries of “Namaste”. Each evening the village men prepare a delicious home cooked meal on the wood fire as we sit out under the stars soaking up the tranquility and harmony of this incredible place.
This unique Himalayan walk provides a space free from the noise and clutter of the modern world - a place where we can engage gently with the culture and environment whilst still having the simple and understated comforts we all enjoy.
The tour commences and finishes in Delhi which offers the opportunity to spend time in this vibrant and colourful city.
