I've just returned from our fabulous Food, wine and walking tour in Piemonte, Italy. This is a magnificent region of Northern Italy from its stunning capital Torino to its spectacular wine regions where Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Barbera wines shine. April is a perfect time to explore this beautiful region where culinary excellence is a given, sweeping vistas and lush landscapes are breathtaking and our wine tastings exceptional. A truffle hunt with Marta and her gorgeous and talented logotto Bella was lots of fun.

Always love returning to Milan and its impressive architecture, cuisine and hidden treasures like Villa Necchi. After many years I dined at Seta the two star Michelin restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental. Even more impressive than the first time in 2017. Some of my favourite images from our recent tour in Bhutan. Happiness is a given and we loved every moment and unique experience while being welcomed and cared for in the magnificent Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan.

Our final destination on our culinary tour was Kyu

Our final destination on our culinary tour was Kyushu Island and the cities of Nagasaki and Fukuoka. Our visit to the Nagasaki Peace Park was extremely moving and our exploration of Dejima, an artificial island off Nagasaki that served as a trading post for the Portuguese (1570–1639) and subsequently the Dutch (1641–1858) was fascinating. For 220 years, it was the central conduit for foreign trade and cultural exchange with Japan during the isolationist Edo period (1600–1869), and the only Japanese territory open to westerners.
We also managed to indulge in the culinary delights of this beautiful region. And we were fortunate to see the first blooms of spring in Fukuoka.

Kyoto was a real treat this trip. Winter in Japan is the perfect time to explore some of the most outstanding sights free from the tourist crowds. Our visit to Ginkakuji (Silver Pavillion) was stunning and a relaxed stroll through the Nishiki Market discovering its fabulous produce and culinary treats was a highlight.
We enjoyed a delightful dinner at Toki restaurant in Hotel The Mitsui on our final night in Kyoto.
