Tasting the wine and cuisine of north east Italywith sommelier Mark Protheroe

Mark Protheroe has a remarkable history in the hospitality industry from working in a small restaurant in Beechworth, to being the Head Sommelier at the Grossi group of restaurants in Melbourne and now joint restaurant owner and consultant sommelier.

Mark and Epicurious travel have designed a tour in north eastern Italy focusing on the wine of the regions from Milan across towards Trieste and from Verona north to Bolzano. Led by Mark and Jennifer Wilkinson, the journey offers an exceptional range of private winery visits and tastings, exquisite food from simple bars and trattorias to stella restaurants along with some wonderful cultural activities and magnificent scenery. And of course in true Epicurious travel style; unique and stunning accommodation, a small group of up to 12 guests and an inimitable experience.

This tour commencing in Milan journeys to Franciacorta, the location for the sublime sparkling wines of Italy, before travelling north along the shore of Lake Garda to the Trentino – Alto Adige/South Tyrol  region and the city of Bolzano. From here we head south to the Veneto and its spectacular soave and valpolicella producers and finally Friuli Venezia Giulia where some of the finest white wines of Italy are produced. Accommodation is of the highest quality including the Mandarin Oriental in Milan, Hotel Castel Hörtenberg in Bolzano and a stunning Relais/Villa on the edge of Verona.
