ACTIVE journeys, AUTHENTIC experiences,
FABULOUS food & wine and a touch of LUXURY

Since 2004, when EPIcURIOUS travel operated its first walking tour on the Larapinta trail, we have gradually evolved from offering luxury walking holidays in Australia and Italy to today, when we create experiential tours in Spain, Italy, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Bhutan, India, Japan, Vietnam and Cambodia. The essence of our tours is still a focus on culinary, cultural and active travel and we only craft itineraries in the destinations we know well and have experienced.

We offer a number of small group journeys with a maximum of 12 guests as well as crafting unique journeys for private travel.

Our defining characteristic as a small luxury touring company is to create a travel experience that is enriching, memorable and designed to reveal the true spirit of a destination. Our distinctive journeys explore local cuisine, culture and landscapes, providing travel experiences that are immersive, inspiring and deeply rewarding.

  • This Culinary Journey in the Basque Country exceeded our expectations. We loved exploring the diversity of this unique region. Highly recommend this trip if you love great food and wine and outstanding accommodation!

  • Highlights – conversations with Jennifer and our guides, the gentleness of the Bhutanese people themselves, including our very engaging guides, visits to other monasteries, lunch at the farm and trying the printing to make the prayer flags, the hiking and majesty of the diverse snow-capped mountains, and the food and accommodation. A kind of bliss all round.

  • I’d highly recommend this experience and thankyou for making it what it was. I have to say our two guides Paloma and Alfonso we absolutely amazing- they were funny and experienced and full of information and love of Spain which they so willingly shared and always, always bright and happy – never tired or grumpy which over the extended period and long hours they had to work was fabulous. They were absolute Gems.
The amount of walking was great with quite reasonable distances most days but still having time to enjoy the gorgeous towns we arrived in. I feel like we saw a lot of northern Spain – the countryside but also loads and loads of little and big villages and they were some of my favorite memories. Burgos and Pamplona and Leon and all the small villages we lunched in – I so enjoyed all that. I also loved having all the local food and visiting all the restaurants along the way – I really felt we immersed ourselves in Spain for the two weeks.

  • This trip ticks all the boxes in Andalusia – the big ticket places and smaller unexpected delights. Walking in the mountains, sampling all the delicious tapas and wines and being blown away by the history, art and architecture of this region. Not to mention relaxing by the pools of lovely hotels or watching/ hearing Flamenco and other musicians.

Food, wine and walking in Southern Spain – Meredith, April 2024

  • This tour of Piedmonte is a must for everyone who loves a countryside of stunningly beautiful vine trellised hills, the local Barbaresco and Barolo wine, the exquisite food of the area, the unpretentious people who own the vineyards and wineries, the history of the area with ancient stone villages like Neive and so much more.
Jennifer has sourced a fabulous assortment of experiences: restaurants, wineries, but also an artisanal cheese making tour and tasting, a truffle hunt with a wonderful moustachioed man and dog, historical tours of the main ancient towns of Piedmonte, walks through markets, walks among the vines and again, much more, ending in paradise on the shore of Lago di Orta at Pella

Food, wine & walking in Piedmont, Italy – June, April 2024

  • The number of people on the trip was perfect.. not too many .. and enough to get to chat to everybody.
All the hotels were so well chosen. I don’t think this could be improved and it was so good not to have to pack up and move every day.
Both Peter and I loved all the food and history components too. The restaurants that Jennifer chose were all so great, not just for the food, but for their uniqueness too.

  • From first contact with Meredith in Aus to saying goodbye to our beautiful guides in Santiago, the entire trip was just wonderful. The streamline organisation made everything happen with ease and was beyond my expectations. The accomodation & food were all spectacular. The culture, history and experience of The Camino and northern Spain was very special. The everyday logistics and joy was managed and enhanced by our spectacular guides, we really could not have wanted for more!

Camino de Santiago – Tracey, May 2024

  • A culinary delight and a wonderful experience – thank you!  We have never eaten so many great meals in such a short time!  thank you again for a fabulous trip, tantalising our taste buds and opening our eyes to a great part of the world.

A Culinary Journey in the Basque Country of Spain – Helen, May 2022

  • The incredible buildings (Alhambra; the Cordoba mosque unbelievable); the ambience of the small towns; the beautiful countryside. It was also a fabulous opportunity to see parts of Spain that i would never have got to on my own, especially the smaller towns that aren’t served by public transport (eg some of the places we stopped enroute to other towns and also Ubeda and Ronda, and the country side walks.

Jim was a terrific guide. He is really knowledgeable about the history and politics of Spain and very informative. He is also very well organised, easy going and personable and a good walking/hiking guide as well.

  • There could not be a better way to immerse yourself in the scenic beauty and culture of Bhutan, than on this Epicurious tour.

Discover the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan – Mark and Pam February 2024

  • I loved the Piedmont trip and was so impressed with the standard of accommodation and meals.
My favourites were eating in Bra and the slow food movement, the truffle hunting and Lake Orta.

  • This is how to experience the Camino. Enjoy walking a changing landscape, learning the pilgramage history while passing ruins and wandering quaint villages and towns, knowing at the end of each day you will relax in quality accommodation. Enjoyed the whole experience, every day a new adventure

Camino de Santiago – Mark and Pam, May 2023

  • Travelled to brilliant places you would not know about or find as an independent traveller.

Food, wine and walking in Northern Italy – Graeme, June 2023

  • I had a wonderful trip and found the guiding and the range of activities very enjoyable. The hikes were all quite different and the history of this region is extraordinary but in some ways not so well known. The cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba all have something very different to offer and the smaller villages have little gems tucked away also. The food, wine and sherry wine in this area was very good and it is always fun trying to navigate the Spanish eating and drinking times. I am keen to return to Spain.

Food, wine and walking in Southern Spain – Jane, September 2022

  • This was our second culinary tour of Japan with Michael Ryan because we enjoyed the first one so much. Once again, we experienced magnificently crafted, delicious and visually stunning food in a variety of top-rated Japanese restaurants where we were feted by our hosts as part of Michael’s entourage. We enjoyed a very high level of comfort and amenity in superb hotels and experienced the beauty of many aspects of traditional Japanese culture. This was an experience to be cherished forever
