This classic journey is a wonderful introduction to North and South India in one captivating journey. From Delhi to the Taj Mahal and the magnificent forts and renowned Rajasthan icons, we travel to Mumbai and the fascinating state of Kerala where we explore Cochin and the beautiful Kerala Backwaters. We stay in luxury accommodation, travelling with a small group and accompanied by Jennifer Wilkinson, owner of Epicurious travel and passionate Indophile. This tour is not to be missed!

After years of researching and travelling to this much loved and magical destination, EPIcURIOUS travel brings you the quintessential Indian experience. This exciting journey embraces the rich culture, sumptuous food, breathtaking architecture and landscapes and endearing people of the Indian subcontinent.

We commence in Delhi, the capital city of India with its Mughal monuments and Imperial City built by the British. Delhi is a heady experience of old and new, renowned for its architectural masterpieces, unbeatable shopping and boundless, vivid energy.

Our next  destination is Agra and the majestic Taj Mahal then onward to Rajasthan revealing the ultimate Indian experience with its vivid colours, swirling crowds, spectacular deserts, tranquil lakes and rich cuisine. We visit the Ranthambore National Park where you have the opportunity to spot the majestic Bengal Tiger and enjoy down time in nature at the beautiful Sherbagh tented camp.  Your journey continues through the stunning landscape of Rajasthan with its fabulous palaces and forts and important cities of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur where we stay in heritage palaces and stylish hotels.

We fly on to Mumbai, where we commence the transition into Southern India. Mumbai today is more than just a metropolis. It is in fact an enigma of mud huts and skyscrapers, age-old traditions and high fashion, the industrialist’s haven and Indian moviemakers’ Hollywood. The city is constantly changing whilst also standing still.

From Mumbai, we fly to Cochin, the oldest European settlement in India, where we watch fishermen set their ancient Chinese fishing nets as the sun sinks into the Arabian Sea. In the backwaters of Kerala we enjoy the special hospitality and superb cuisine of hosts whose families have lived here for generations. A cooking class enhances the experience of this exhilarating destination. Attend a traditional Kathakali dance performance and a sumptuous houseboat journey on the tranquil Keralan backwaters, stopping at local villages on the way. The languid pace of the south is a fitting finale to our Indian adventure.

Designed to whet your appetite and give you a taste of this intoxicating and alluring country, this 18-day small group journey is a marvellous way to see the very best of India’s highlights in a relaxed and luxurious manner.
