Recently named the world's leading culinary destination, this small group tour offers a fascinating revelation into the extraordinary cuisine and rich culture of Peru.

Peru was recently awarded the World´s leading culinary destination by the World Travel Awards and Lima is without doubt the food capital of South America. Amazing biodiversity, a ridiculously huge variety of local ingredients, pre-Columbian and Spanish culinary traditions mixed with the creativity of local chefs and influences from all over the world are some of the elements still building an extraordinary local cuisine.

Peru was once the centre of the biggest pre-Columbian civilisation (the Inca Empire) and Lima was the capital of the Spanish Colony in South America for almost 300 years. These two factors are significant in understanding the development of such a refined cuisine and also in making Peru an incredible destination in terms of history, culture, art and tradition.

Staying in superb boutique properties we will explore Lima, the Sacred Valley, the ancient Incan capital of Cusco and the World Heritage citadel of Machu Picchu discovering the rich culinary and cultural heritage of Peru’s indigenous and colonial past. We dine in some of the finest restaurants Lima, Cusco and Arequipa have to offer. The new and luxurious Belmond Andean Explorer has enticed us to incorporate this thrilling train journey from Cusco to Lake Titicaca and on to Arequipa taking in some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. We take a detour to the Colca Canyon to explore this untouched and spectacular region. We visit some of the local indigenous communities and marvel at Colca Canyon which is twice the depth of the Grand Canyon. A sweeping area of natural beauty, you’ll spot countless examples of Incan and Pre-Incan architecture alongside alpacas, eagles and the mighty Andean condor. We finish in the colonial city of Arequipa, a UNESCO World Heritage site before taking our flight back to Lima.
